**As of August 15th, 2025, the project was awarded to Erpelding Excavating Enterprise, with an awarded amount of $383,612.38.** The extent of the WORK involved consists generally of: Construction of approximately 1,100 feet of 8" PVC backwash piping, two rapid infiltration backwash ponds, and other miscellaneous appurtenant work. Est. Completion Date: Nov. 28, 2025 At said meeting, or at a later time and place as will then be fixed, the Board will act upon the bid proposals. Mr. Bjorn Sellner, P.E. for DGR Engineering, presented project information through emails on June 16, 2023, July 10, 2023, and September 6, 2023. The email on June 16, 2023, included an RFP that included Sheet SP that was titled "Site Plan" indicating the boring locations and the email on July 10, 2023, included a copy of CTS's submittal to the RFP. The email on September 6, 2023, included an updated version of Sheet SP and provided additional project information. CTS understands that the project will consist of two backwash ponds for the existing water treatment plant in Algona, Iowa. It is further understood that it is desired to have the ponds function as percolation ponds. Please note that discharge ponds were initially considered; however, based on the granular materials encountered on the west end of the site, this report addresses the use of percolation ponds, as requested by Mr. Sellner. CTS also understands that the ponds will have plan dimensions of approximately 60 feet by 92 feet with bottom of ponds at elevation 1122 feet and top of dike at a minimum elevation of 1130 feet on the west end. Report will be based on up to 5.4 feet of cut and up to a foot of fill in the dike areas and between 7 feet and 13.4 feet of cut in the pond bottom. The geotechnical recommendations presented in this report are based on the available project information, project location and the subsurface materials described in this report. If the noted information is incorrect, please inform CTS in writing so that we may amend the recommendations presented in this report, if appropriate. CTS will not be responsible for the implementation of its recommendations when it is not notified of changes in the project. The site is located west of the intersection of W North Street and N Ridgley Street on the west side of Algona, Iowa. The site was bordered by a grass field to the north, N Ridgley Street to the east, existing residences to the south and a tree line to the west. At the time of drilling, the surface cover at the boring locations consisted of grass. The site slopes down to the northwest with approximately 16 feet of elevation change between the boring locations. The surface at the boring locations was firm at the time of our site visit and the drill rig did not experience difficulty moving around the site.
