Renovation of a municipal facility in Wasilla, Alaska. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 840-square-foot municipal facility.
The project consists of approximately 840 square feet (28x30) of roofing demo and replacement. All Prospective Bidders/respondents Are Hereby Cautioned Not to Contact Any Member of the City of Wasilla Staff or Officials Other Than the Specified Contact Person. The City of Wasilla reserves the right to reject any or all bids/proposals and waive any procedural informality. Disabled persons needing reasonable accomodation in order to participate should contact the Purchasing Officer at least one week in advance of the bid opening. The location is at the City of Wasilla's Historic Townsite at the north-east corner of E. Swanson Ave. and N. Boundary St.(390 N. Boundary St.). The project consists of approximately 840 square feet (28'x30") of roofing demo and replacement with preformed metal roofing on a historic 2 story structure. The gable roof has an approximate 7/12 pitch with a "jerkinhead" hip on the south gable. The existing roof structure appears to be comprised of 1" x 6" decking covered in an asphalt rolled roofing product. In addition to removal of the rolled asphalt roofing, the existing chimney structure and mechanical penetrations will be demolished below the roof plane as part of this contract. Rough framing of the chimney opening as needed for structural support will be incidental to the demo. Due to the unknown condition of the existing decking a new layer of plywood sheathing (minimum 1/2 " cdx or similar) will be required to be overlaid on the entire roof area. Sheathing shall be fastened to the rafter structure, nailed through the existing decking, with appropriate length galvanized ring-shank fasteners. A water-resistant barrier (WRB) will be required to be applied to the sheathing surface per manufacture's recommendations. Any additional required structural or decking repairs will be covered under a contingent sum carpentry line item on a per hour basis. Previously, the lower porch/entry roof had been replaced with a corrugated metal roofing. The re-roof product will be similar the lower section in profile which has a 12" on-center rib. The new roofing shall be commercial grade Zincalume or similar (galvanized) in a 24-gauge thickness. Gable and eave flashing shall be non-standard at 2" vertical (fascia side) as to match the historic appearance.
