Site work for a library in Clearfield, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for site work for a library.
The work will be performed in three phases to include Phase 1 - Landscape Installation for the new addition area The Contractor will be required to be licensed by the PA Department of Agriculture to apply pesticides and will be required to submit the license with the bid. In addition, the business must show the names of the pesticide applicators and their certification as a Certified Commercial/Public Pesticide Technician with the bid. The Contractor will also be required to supply the Plant Dealer or Nursery License as certified under Pennsylvania's Plant Pest Act. Failure to supply these items with the bid will result in disqualification of the bid. Any questions should be referred to Lisa Coval, Director, Joseph and Elizabeth Shaw Public Library at 814-765-3271. All addenda will be circulated via email to registered bidders only. Shaw Library Board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. Shaw Library Board reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. New Addition Area A. Front of Building 1. Extend the shrub planting from existing building to the Market Street side. a. Planting to be between windows. 2. Plant low-growing perennial below the windows. a. These could match what is already established in the existing building beds. 3. Where the large tree was removed next to the parking area: a. Maintain in grass. No need for an additional tree because of future need for care. B. Market Street Side 1. Continue with shrub and flower planting as previously described, a. Could modify planting species to change view, if desired. C. River Side 1. Continue with shrub and flower planting as previously described. a. Placement may need modified depending on the sidewalk being added to the pad at the emergency exit. Existing Landscape Area A. Front of Building 1. Remove Holly bush closest to the building behind the flagpole. This is not needed in landscape view. 2. Replace two (2) Holly bushes in the "smoking area". The existing bushes are in decline. 3. Remove shrubs at the emergency exit door at stacks. The existing shrubs are in decline. a. If desired, replant locating further away from door or plant with a perennial flower. B. Park Side of Building 1. Remove shrub bed along the walkway to the office rear entrance door. The existing shrubs are in decline. a. Replace with stone or perennial flowers. 2. Replace shrubs at the electronic device. The shrubs are in decline. 3. Remove three (3) of the shrubs along wall from shed to the building offset. The shrubs are too close to the building. a. Do not replace. 4. Remove two (2) shrubs in offset area. The shrubs are too close to the building and hinder access to the device. a. Do not replace. C. Rear of Building 1. No immediate work required. Trees A. Pruning 1. Kousa dogwood, redbud, and other small flowering trees need to be pruned professionally. 2. The two (2) hemlock trees on the corners at the rear of the building need to be removed. a. No other planting will be done here. 3. The two (2) largest trees in the front of the building by the parking lot (Calgary Pear) need to be pruned professionally for a crown reduction. a. A crown reduction lowers the height of the tree without significant change in appearance. b. This tree has been banned from sale and planting in Pennsylvania by the PA Department of Agriculture
