This is a design and construction project to overlay 8009 linear feet of Runway 16R/34L with new asphalt surface course. Runway 16R/34L, which is constructed of deteriorating asphalt pavement, is at the end of its usable life. While resurfacing the runway, the profile will be modified to eliminate several grade breaks and smooth out anomalies. A Pavement Condition Index (PCI), completed in May 2023, indicated sections of runway rated at 67 to 84 (fair to satisfactory). The project includes pavement markings, drainage improvements, signage, and lighting upgrades. The project is included in the City's 2025-2031 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of February 17, 2026, per owner, design will be in 2029 with construction in 2030.
