The intent and purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to establish a contract through competitive negotiations for the supply and delivery of medium voltage switchgear and transformer equipment as described in the statement of needs and Attachment E for Radford University located at 801 East Main Street, Radford, Virginia 24142, an agency of the Commonwealth of Virginia. Section specifies basis-of-design environmental conditions and performance criteria that are applicable to product selection and installation of the Work on the Project unless more stringent requirements are specified in the Contract Documents for individual products. Note: Installed products may assume that the environments specified in this Section exist for determining optimum performance. Installed products, however, must survive and operate in a manner that protects property and ensures safety of occupants in the event that a failure or unforeseen event causes the environment to exceed the specified limits. When necessary, more stringent environmental performance requirements have been specified in the Contract Documents for individual products to mitigate potential hazards that might occur due to failure to maintain the specified environment for those products.
