Renovation of a fire / police facility in Bellingham, Washington. Completed plans call for the renovation of a two-story above grade fire / police facility.
The improvement consists of: Removal and replacement of existing stone veneer to repair weather resistive barrier, sheathing, flashings, and structural framing that has been compromised due to water infiltration. Storefront window framing system, entrance doors, and hardware are to be replaced at stone cladding areas. Some stucco removal above the ground-level stone wainscot is planned to facilitate installation of new flashings. Miscellaneous other repairs including patching interior gypsum board and painting is also planned. Price Range: $1,180,000.00 - 1,380,000.00 *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. All proposals must be on the Bid Proposal form provided by the City of Bellingham and must be accompanied by a certified check, cashiers check, cash, money order or bid bond payable to the Finance Director in an amount equal to or exceeding five percent (5%) of the total bid. Requests for clarification are due Friday, October 31, 2025 4:00:00 PM [(UTC-08:00) Pacific Time (US & Canada)]. THE EXISTING BELLINGHAM POLICE DEPARTMENT WAS CONSTRUCTED IN 1992. SUBSEQUENT INVESTIGATIONS AND REPAIRS HAVE BEEN PERFORMED OVER THE YEARS TO ADDRESS DEFICIENCIES IN THE ENVELOPE, INCLUDING STUCCO REPAIRS AND WINDOW REPLACEMENTS. THE SCOPE OF THIS PROJECT IS TO ADDRESS AREAS THAT HAVE NOT YET BEEN ADDRESSED, INCLUDING DEGRADATION OF THE EXISTING STONE PANELING AROUND THE PRIMARY ENTRANCE VOLUME, AND THE STONE WAINSCOT AROUND THE PERIMETER OF THE BUILDING. THE EXISTING STONE IS TO BE REMOVED AND REPLACED, AS THE PRESENCE AND CONDITION OF A WEATHER-RESISTIVE BARRIER IS UNKNOWN. STOREFRONT WINDOWS ARE TO BE REPLACED AT THE PRIMARY ENTRANCE VOLUME, AND CORRECTIONS ARE PLANNED FOR FLASHINGS WHERE MISSING AT THESE EXISTING ROUGH OPENINGS. EVIDENCE OF WATER INFILTRATION IS VISIBLE AT THE INTERIOR ADJACENT TO THESE OPENINGS, INDICATING POTENTIAL FOR DAMAGE TO THE LIGHT-GAUGE STEEL FRAMING SYSTEM.
