Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project; sidewalk / parking lot; for paving for a sidewalk / parking lot; road / highway; and road / highway.
The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: 693 LF of Water Main, Trenchless, PVC 8" dia, 202 LF of Water Main, Trenched, PVC 8" dia, 85.7 SY of Removal of Sidewalk/Driveway, 89.2 SY of Sidewalk, PCC, 6'74" depth, 119.1 SY of Pavement Removal, 119.1 SY of Full Depth Path and miscellaneous related work and appurtenances in accordance with the contract documents. Doc Note - The plans and specifications are now on file in the office of the City Clerk. Copies thereof may be obtained at the office of the Public Works Department. One set of bidding documents for the above project is available without charge to prospective bidders, i.e. qualified general contractors. A $20.00 fee will apply to additional sets and to bidding documents requested by other than prospective bidders as defined herein. The City of Ames Public Works Department is the only authorized source of bidding documents and proposal forms. Bidding documents and proposal forms obtained from any other source may have an incomplete set of documents. Bidders using bidding documents and/or proposal forms not obtained from the City of Ames Public Works Department are advised to contact the City of Ames Public Works Department to provide a contact name, mailing address, and phone number to enable receipt of necessary addenda. Reproduction of these documents without the express permission of the City of Ames is prohibited. E 14TH ST (GLENDAL AVE TO MEADOWLANE AVE) & MEADOWLANE AVE (E 13TH STREET TO E 14TH ST) Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of Iowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award and approval of the contract and performance bond. Workshail be completed no later than the designated contract completion date of December 12, 2025. Should the contractor fail to complete the work by this date, liquidated damages of $1 ,OOO per calendar day will be assessed. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond is to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract, and shall guarantee the maintenance Of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City. The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) years for new paving. The City of Ames reserves the right to defer acceptance of any bid for a period not to exceed thirty (30) days after receipt of bids, and no bid may be withdrawn during this period. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
