Site work and paving for a civil project in Desert Hot Springs, California. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; and water / sewer project.

Construct one (1) monitoring well in the City of Desert Hot Springs, located on the east side of La Mesa Drive, approximately 150' south of Hacienda Drive, on APN 641-203-023. The work includes constructing one (1) 4-inch Schedule 80 PVC monitoring well and installing monitoring well appurtenances and surface monument with concrete pad, protective bollards. In addition, the scope includes, as a bid alternative, demolishing the existing Well No. 11 at the same site due to a failure of the well casing. Question Submission Deadline: August 7, 2025, 2:00pm Question Response Deadline: August 14, 2025 The scope of this project consists of mobilization and demobilization at one (1) site for the drilling and equipping of one (1) monitoring well, including but not limited to, well drilling, installing monitoring well casing and screen, placing filter pack and sanitary seals, well development, installing well accessories, and site cleanup. In addition, the scope may include demolishing the existing Well No. 11 at the same site due to a failure of the well casing. The monitoring well to be constructed may be as much as 300 to 350 feet deep, but possibly shallower or deeper, as herein specified. Formations expected to be encountered include: sand, silt gravel, cobbles, and boulders; with possible minor clay. It is not anticipated that bedrock will be encountered at the proposed monitoring well location within the specified drilling depth, given a general understanding of the local geology. As part of the bid submittal, the contractor shall include a schedule of drilling activities. Contractor selection will be based on qualifications and bid price. Contractor shall furnish all materials, equipment, supplies, transportation, and labor, perform all operations, and conduct all work necessary to complete the one (1) monitoring well, all in accordance with the requirements of the Contract Documents, any and all applicable local codes, and the latest revision of California Department of Water Resources Bulletins No. 74-90, California Monitoring Well Standards. Contractor shall drill the well at the exact location designated by the Owner or Owner's representative (Inspector) unless otherwise specified due to the existence of underground or overhead structures which preclude the safe operation of equipment. The Contractor shall ensure that each area is cleared by USA Alerts and a private utility locator prior to drilling. If there is any doubt related to utilities, the area will be hand dug for the top 5 feet and visually cleared before proceeding. The contractor shall properly install the materials described herein in accordance with these specifications. Well Drilling The Horton MW-1A well shall be drilled to a depth as described in the following sections. Procedures for the drilling and completion of the well as detailed herein and in Appendix A are listed as follows: a. Drilling of an 8--inch hole using the resonant sonic drilling method. b. Installation of 100 feet of 4-inch I.D. Schedule 80 PVC flush threaded screened casing with flush threaded end cap and casing centralizers. c. Installation of 252 feet, includes 2-ft stick up, of 4-inch I.D. Schedule 80 PVC blank casing pipe with casing centralizers. d. Installation of sand filter pack (e.g, #2/12Lonestar #3 washed silica sand or approved equal) - 250-ft depth to 350-ft depth. e. Installation of a 3-foot transitional bentonite seal layer. f. Installation of Portland Sand Cement and (5-percent by weight) bentonite grout sanitary seal to be placed from top of transitional bentonite seal layer to ground surface along with 6-inch diameter protective steel casing (with locking access door and cap/lid) and 4-ft by 4-ft by 6-inch concrete pad with guard post-type protective bollards at each corner of the pad. g. Conduct an alignment (e.g, dummy) test. h. Development of well, to the discretion of Owner's representative. i. Installation of specified well accessories, (i.e.., submersible pump depth and tubing length), and vented locking cap. j. Record reference point, total completion depth, materials penetrated, cased and screened intervals, well accessories information, and static water level (depth). k. Provide monitoring well equipment/accessories/keys to the Owner with verification of well integrity and consistency with specifications. l. Clean up of well site. QA 8/12/25 - The anticipated start date is October 2025. Sounds walls are not required for construction.
