Site work and new construction of an educational facility in Washington, Georgia. Completed plans call for the construction of a 2,160-square-foot educational facility; and for site work for a educational facility.
Wilkes County Schools is seeking proposals from qualified greenhouse contractors to design, supply, and install a fully functional educational greenhouse to support the district's agricultural education program. The structure will be located on school property and must be delivered as a turnkey solution, complete with all specified systems operational upon completion. Structure Specifications This proposal is for turn-key services of furnishing and installing a greenhouse structure at Washington Wilkes Comprehensive High School located at 1182 Tignall Road Washington, GA. Greenhouse specifications should be as follows or very similar to: - Size: 2,160 sq. ft. (30 ft. wide x 72 ft. long), with 8 ft. sidewalls - Frame: Galvanized steel frame consisting of: - Column Post: 2"x4"x14 ga. rectangle with welded base plates to be anchored to concrete. Bows: 2"x3"x14 ga., spaced 6 ft. - Trusses: 2"x2"x14 ga., 29' 3- 1/4 " wide spans - Purlins: 12 runs 1-3/8" round - Uprights: 1-3/8" round - Ridge: Extruded aluminum ridge cap - Roof Glazing System: Extruded Aluminum roof channels spaced 6ft apart - Roof Glazing: 8mm clear twin wall no drip polycarbonate panels - Eave Glazing System: Aluminum extruded eave channels - Eave Glazing: 8mm clear twin wall no drip polycarbonate - Sealed Engineering Drawings for Structural Design - Sealed Engineering Drawings for Foundation Design - Wind & Snow Loads - Wind Load (WL) 115 mph, 3 second gust - Snow Load (SL) 10 lbs. Psf, Ground Snow - Risk Category: II End Gables Front gable framed for (2) 42" exhaust fans and (1) main entry door - 2" x 2" x 14 ga. Square with brackets for wedge anchor attachment - Horizontal Purlins: 2" x 2" x 14 ga. Square - Base Extrusion: Aluminum base extrusion Rear gable framed for (1) 5 ft. x 20 ft. Evaporative Cooling System and (1) Personal Door - 2" x 2" x 14 ga. Square with brackets for wedge anchor attachment - Horizontal Purlins: 2" x 2" x 14 ga. Square - Base Extrusion: Aluminum base extrusion - End Gable Glazing 8mm clear twinwall no drip polycarbonate panels, complete framing, glazing and extrusion package Ventilation System Minimum requirements: - 2-42" Slant wall exhaust fan 1hp: 15490 cfm ea. @ .10 SP 110V or 220V (All fans should be single speed and equipped with shutter and guard to offer a minimum of 1.3 air exchanges per minute @ .10 inches of static pressure). - 1-30" Motorized shutter, located above cooling pad to offer a fresh air intake at the minimum stage cooling. - 1-5x20ft Stainless Steel Evaporative Cooling Systems with trough, plate, and 6" thick pad. The 6" pad material should offer maximum cooling, use a 65/15-degree water/air flow with a 420 per maximum face velocity. System should be self-contained and should not require a reservoir tank. System should include sump pump and float valve for proper level regulation. - 1-5x20ft Automatic Wall Vent located behind the evaporative cooling system. Wall vent should operate using a motorized rack & pinion drive system offering years of maintenance free operation. Should include 24 volt motor, mounts, and vent boss. Should include extruded aluminum frame and warranted 8mm polycarbonate covering. Heating Minimum requirements: - (1) 250,000 BTU LP gas heater - (3) Horizontal Air Flow Fans (HAF) 18"-3 bladed fans complete with guard and a split capacitor 115 volt 60 hz motor, 1.1 amps develops 1790 CFM Doors - (1) 42"x6'-8"-3/4 Glass, A.D.A. compliant single swing door with lever action lock and key. - (1) 72"x6'-8"-3/4 Glass, A.D.A. compliant single swing door with lever action lock and key. Automatic Temperature Control - (1) Touchscreen-operated environmental control system - Pre-wired relay box, touchscreen interface - Wi-Fi-enabled with app control - Supports up to 2 zones, programmable by time and DIF Hanging Basket Rails - (1) to include: 8 runs of 1-3/8" x 17 ga. tubing running length of benches - (6) with drippers for baskets, (2) for irrigation support Shade Cloth - (1) 34' x 71' Shade Cloth (51% shading) - Grommeted and taped 2 ft. on centers - Includes clamps, hardware, and lace rope for attachment Any proposal may be withdrawn prior to the date and time the proposals are due. Any proposal not withdrawn will constitute an irrevocable offer for a period of 90 days, to provide the School Board with the services specified in the proposal. Wilkes County Schools will not be under any requirement to complete the evaluation by a specific date and reserves the right to suspend or postpone the evaluation process should the need arise due to budget constraints, time constraints, or other factors as directed by Wilkes County Schools. Notification of any changes to the time schedule will be made to Proposers by U.S. Certified mail, email, or fax. Wilkes County Schools will review the proposals in tentative preparation for the September 2025 Board Meeting. Bid announcements, tally sheets, and/or any selection decisions will not be released prior to formal Board approval. Wilkes County Schools reserve the right to delay this timeline as necessary. Brief history of your company that includes: - Similar Projects and References - Design and specification process - Delivery and Pre and Post Installation Process - Point of contact for sales, delivery and installation: - Describe the warranty List and describe a minimum of three (3) K-12 educational projects that your company was awarded that compare in scope to the District's project as indicated in section 2.0. Include reference contact information for each project. Provide a summary of your design and specification process, including the methods to specify, space planning, and layout services. Describe the project flow from award to installation. Include the step-by-step process that your firm uses to manage projects of this nature. Provide a summary of your standard delivery and installation process. Provide post-installation procedures. Describe who will be the company's point of contact during sales, delivery, and installation. Describe your company's product warranty for all structures and components. All questions and inquiries must be submitted via email no later than 4:00 p.m. EST, August 18, 2025, to: Lou Heard, heardl@wilkes.k12.ga.us. All questions will be answered via email no later than 4:00 p.m. EST August 21, 2025. Questions and answers will be posted to the Wilkes County Schools website, under the Open Bids online. Wilkes County Schools reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals. Wilkes County Schools reserves the right to waive any irregularities and technicalities and may, at its sole discretion, request a re-submittal or other information to evaluate any or all proposals. Wilkes County Schools reserves the right to require proposer(s) to submit evidence of qualifications or any other information the Wilkes County School District may deem necessary. Wilkes County Schools reserves the right, prior to approval, to withdraw the RFP or portions thereof, without penalty. Wilkes County Schools reserves the right to: (1) accept the proposal of any firm to be in the best interest of the District and (2) to reject any and/or all proposals. Wilkes County Schools reserves the right to conduct interviews with any of the proposers and to require a formal presentation by any of the proposers.
