As outlined in the existing lease agreement with the Shorebirds, the County has agreed to maintain or replace identified operating systems once they have surpassed their expected life cycles. Per the lease schedule, the branch lines in the dry fire suppression system have become the County’s responsibility to maintain or replace and future funds are requested to either maintain or replace these lines as needed. The County previously replaced the main line in the dry system but there was insufficient funding to complete the branch lines. In 2025, the State of Maryland is scheduled to replace the branch lines underneath the Stadium as part of the PDL compliance project; however, the lines on the 2nd & 3rd levels remain original to the building. In the meantime, the County will seek professional recommendations about how to cost-effectively maintain branch lines for as long as possible. The County intends to request to have replacements funded with State money. However, ifthe branch lines reach the end oftheir life cycle or fall into disrepair, this would be the financial responsibility ofthe County if State funds could not be acquired. As of July 28, 2025, this project is included in the County 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP) *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
