Fisheries and Oceans Canada requires the refurbishment of the lighthouse structure at the Langara Point Lightstation facility located on the north-west tip of Langara Island, which is part of the Haida Gwaii Islands adjacent to the Canada-United States border. The nearest community is the Village of Masset, located roughly 40 kilometers to the southeast. It is accessible by helicopter and boat. The work comprises supplying all labour, materials, tools, transportation, supervision, and equipment necessary for the provision of completing the refurbishment. Work to be performed under this Contract includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. Mobilization to site 2. Scaffolding from base of tower to top of lantern house, where required inside. 3. Lantern house restoration: Dismantle glazing, manufacture 15 new curved panels, and reinstall with new sealants and gaskets. Lead abatement, environmental hoarding, chemical stripping of lantern, railings, disposal of stripped paint. Lantern house repainting. Metal door repairs, top vent repairs, metal repairs. 4. Tower restoration: Remove all existing windows and doors. Restore door and third floor window, replace first and second floor windows. Lead abatement, environmental hoarding, chemical stripping of stairs and entrance doorway. Strip paint from all concrete surfaces including interior and exterior walls and floors. Concrete repairs to walls and gallery. Application of traffic grade membrane on all floors and gallery. Repainting of concrete surfaces with breathable elastomeric coating. 5. Safe and proper disposal of all waste, demobilization to site. To assist with bonding and insurance requirements, this project is estimated to cost approximately between $500,001.00 and $1,500,000.00 (GST included).
