The Town is upgrading and expanding the UCWRF to have a maximum monthly design flow of 8 mgd, with provisions for future expansions. The Town selected five-stage biological nutrient removal (BNR) utilizing membrane bioreactors (MBRs) for solids removal as the basis of design for the expansion to 8 mgd. As part of the project, the existing secondary clarifiers, disk filters, and dewatering equipment will be decommissioned. The existing ultraviolet (UV) disinfection system will be refurbished by the original equipment manufacturer. Proposed new facilities include ultra-fine screening, conversion of the secondary clarifiers to equalization tanks, reconfiguration of the oxidation ditches to a plug flow, layout new MBRs, deoxygenation tanks, a return activated sludge (RAS) pump station, and a new dewatering facility. Existing infrastructure, including the Preliminary Treatment Facility, Influent Pump Station, cascade aerator, and waste activated sludge (WAS) holding tanks, will remain in operation. The written protest must be received by the Town's Project Manager at rachel.ingham@hollyspringsnc.gov within two (2) business days of notice of denial. The written protest shall clearly identify the project and the project manager, clearly articulate the reasons for the protest, and attached any documents or additional information in support of the Applicant's position.
