This announcement marks a significant milestone in the advancement of the Green Line LRT. By identifying key players early, we are helping others understand where and how they can collaborate with the Green Line LRT – SE Project, whether through partnerships, subcontracting opportunities, or meaningful career pathways. These companies (listed in alphabetical order) are now eligible to submit proposals for five major projects going to market in 2026: Shepard to Bow (includes six at-grade stations) Aecon EllisDon Graham Bow River (includes bridges over Ogden Road, the Bow River and Deerfoot Trail) Aecon Flatiron Dragados PCL Highfield Station EllisDon Flatiron Dragados Graham PCL Elevated Stations (includes the Ramsay/Inglewood and 26 Avenue S.E. stations) EllisDon Graham PCL Ramsay Elevated Guideway Aecon Flatiron Dragados Graham Phase 1 of the Green Line LRT, from Shepard in the southeast to the Downtown has been approved with $6.248 billion in funding commitments from the City of Calgary, Province of Alberta, and Government of Canada. The City of Calgary is responsible for delivering the project, with construction of the SE Segment now underway. Contracts are already being awarded to local construction companies, and more than $3 billion in additional tenders will be released to the market in 2025 and 2026. The main civil construction of the SE Segment of the Green Line will be divided into six packages, five of which will be awarded through a Request for Prequalification (RFPQ) process, while one (114-Barlow Elevated Guideway) will be released directly to RFP. The five packages include Shepard to Bow, Bow River, Elevated Stations, Highfield, and Ramsay Elevated Guideway. Construction contracts will follow a DBB model and include key commercial terms such as performance and payment bonds, responsibility for site contamination, permit acquisition, lump sum compensation with allowances, and a two-year warranty.
