Shawnee County is soliciting sealed proposals from qualified contractors to provide concrete footings for the Sky Trail construction in Play Land located in Gage Park and operated by the Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Department. Shawnee County Parks and Recreation Department (SCP+R) is seeking proposals from qualified contractors to provide all labor, materials, construction equipment, coordination, and supervision necessary for the construction of concrete footings necessary for the installation of the Sky Trail at the Gage Park Play Land.. The work shall include the construction of necessary concrete footings for a custom multi-tower aerial adventure trail playground structure (Sky Trail) as an unattended net play structure Work shall include concrete structural footings detailed in the project concept drawings, design drawings, and specifications contained herein. A. Background: The proposed project is the phased construction of a blend of features including. 1. Phase 1 (This RFP): The construction of concrete footings and concrete retaining wall for the Sky Trail aerial adventure system. 2. Phase 2 (future RFP): Construction of a Play Area (PA-1) with play features that interact directly with the Sky Trail tower system. 3. Phase 3 (future RFP): Construction of a large, combined Play Area (PA-2, 3, 6, 7, and 8) with multiple play features contained in one large fall protected area. 4. Phase 4 (future RFP): Construction of a large, combined Play Area (PA-1, and 4) with multiple play features contained in one large fall protected area. 5. Phase 5 (future RFP): Construction of Stand Alone Play Areas (PA- 5, 9, and 10). 6. Phase 6 (future RFP): Construction of miscellaneous features addressing subsurface drainage, fencing, sidewalks, bench installation, curbing, concrete pads, and ancillary equipment. B. Sky Trail Concrete Footings: The scope of work includes the following tasks. Reference RCI Drawing Sheets for more detail: 1. Procurement of steel reinforcement (See 1.3h above). 2. Field location and construction of concrete footings for all aerial towers and accessory features (climbers, slides, and retaining wall) for the entire Sky Trail currently under fabrication by RCI Adventures, per the detailed footing specifications outlined in Section 2.2 and the drawings. This work will include compacted backfill around each footing to match existing/proposed grade. 3. Construction of 12" x 12" interior concrete curbing (between Sky Trail footings) for PA-1 prior to placement of Sky Trail Towers 1, 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, and 2 and their companion trail segments. The segments of 12" x 12" concrete curbing will be placed on the interior of PA-1 between Sky Trail tower footings for PIP boundary and future fence (by SCP+R). 4. The contractor shall prioritize the construction of footings for Area PA-1, including Towers 2 and 3, Towers 4 through 7, and Towers 8 through 9 to facilitate project completion in a timely manner. 5. The retaining wall footing (FT106) must be constructed as part of the construction for towers 4-7. 6. Basis of Payment: Unit price ($/Each) for each type of footing. Costs will include all materials, labor, excavation, base preparation, form setting, steel placement, concrete placement, finishing, and compacted backfill.
