This is a service / maintenance or supply contract in Nantucket, Massachusetts. Contact the soliciting agency for additional information.

Request for Proposals from professional marine engineering firms to perform a comprehensive analysis, evaluation, and development of a maintenance plan for the 500'+- timber pier and wave barrier and the 425+- concrete floating dock located at 34 Washington Street, Nantucket, MA as well as the Children's Beach boat ramp and pier located at 15 Harbor View Way, Nantucket, MA. Analysis to include all timber and steel pilings, cross bracing, pile caps, stringers, blocking, decking, utilities and any related components. The goal is to select a firm that can provide a thorough assessment and a practical maintenance and scheduled replacement plan. The plan should ensure the long-term integrity and safety of the timber piers, floating docks and boat ramp infrastructure in recognition of financial interests of the Town. This Request for Proposals is made in accordance with Massachusetts General Law, Ch. 30B 6. The Town of Nantucket owns and manages the Town Pier at 34 Washington Street and the pier and boat ramp at 15 Harborview Way which serves recreational boating, commercial fishing, and public access to Nantucket Harbor. The Town Pier and its timber pilings have been the subject of numerous repairs, upgrades and replacement dating from their original installation in 1977 through 2024. The timber pier pilings, decking, ladders and wave barrier all have experienced general wear and tear, signs of marine borer activity, and frequent damage from storms. The concrete floating dock system which runs adjacent to the Town Pier was recently upgraded and replaced in 2024. The Children's Beach boat ramp and timber pier was upgraded and replaced in 2017. Inspections and replacement have been conducted in response to storm damage and expansion, but a more detailed long-term assessment and a comprehensive maintenance plan is now needed. The Town of Nantucket, through its Town Administration, invites qualified responders to submit proposals for Dock, Pier and Piling Analysis, Evaluation, and Maintenance Plan. Question Deadline 08/29/2025 at 12:00 PM ET Questions concerning this RFP must be submitted via online. The Town of Nantucket reserves the right to reject any and all proposals and to waive any minor informality in proposals received whenever such rejection or waiver is in its best interest and to the extent doing so is permitted by law in accordance with Section 6(a)(b) of Chapter 30B of the General Laws. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
