These dates are estimates only and Philadelphia Gas Works reserves the right to alter this schedule as it deems necessary or appropriate. This work consists of making necessary adjustments and proper connections between new sewer structures and existing sewer structures and shall include sealing all remaining openings with 9 inch thick brick masonry bulkheads and all appurtenant work and materials necessary for completion. The activities addressed in this HASP that are to be undertaken at the Site, include, but are not limited to, the following: o Excavation of trenches and test pits; o Stockpiling of excavated soils; o Dewatering of excavations; o Backfilling of excavations; o Excavation of underground utilities; o Installation of underground utilities; o Natural gas pipeline installation, including work necessary to complete tie-ins of aboveground piping at elevated heights; o Natural gas pipeline inspection/testing; o Natural gas pipeline assessment; and, o Natural gas pipeline maintenance. All work practices and procedures implemented on site must be designated to minimize worker contact with hazardous materials or situations and to reduce the possibility of physical injury. When contaminated soil or groundwater is encountered, work methods that are least likely to disturb soils/groundwater or otherwise bring employees into contact with contaminated media should be selected to the extent possible. For example, the use of an air knife may release more VOCs from soil than mechanical digging by a digger-loader or hand digging.
