The Marion Veterans Affairs Medical Center (VAMC) operates a central boiler plant that supplies steam for heating, air conditioning, domestic hot water, kitchens, and sterilization. To ensure safety, reliability, efficiency, and equipment longevity, the VAMC requires regular inspections, testing, calibration, and combustion tuning of its boiler and associated plant equipment. These services must be performed annually and/or semi-annually in accordance with Veterans Health Administration (VHA) Directive 1810. The directive mandates that inspections and testing be conducted by a qualified third-party professional with documented expertise in boiler design, construction, and VA standards. The individual must also have proven experience in equipment assessments and compliance with the VA safety device testing manual.
