Site work and new construction of a municipal facility in Charlotte, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the construction of a municipal facility; and for site work for a municipal facility.
This solicitation is for the construction of an approximately 10 Acre Solid Waste Recycling Center and Transfer Station. The project is located at 9851 John Price Road (SR 1344), Charlotte, NC 28273, which is near the intersection of John Price Rd and Logistics Center Drive and is approximately 1.60 miles southwest of I-485 and Tryon Street (NC HWY 49) interchange. Entrance to the project will be near latitude is 35.126811 and longitude -80.945174 . Bid, Performance, and Payment & Material bonds shall be required for this project. Mecklenburg County reserves the right to reject any or all proposals and to waive informalities or technicalities, as it may deem to be in its best interest. A. This Section specifies cast-in-place concrete, including formwork, reinforcing, mix design, placement procedures and finishes. B. Cast-in-place concrete includes the following: 1. Concrete pavement 2. Slabs-on-grade 3. Building and structure foundations and footings. 4. Scale Pit washout slabs. 5. Cantilever retaining walls for scale pits. A. Replacement of Damaged Trees and Pruning. A. Work includes the installation of soil erosion and sedimentation control devices. The work specified in this section consists of providing and maintaining temporary and permanent erosion and sedimentation controls as shown on the construction drawings and as specified in this section. This section also specifies the subsequent removal of temporary erosion and sedimentation control measures. B. After installing the soil erosion and sedimentation control measures as called for on the construction plans, the CONTRACTOR shall assure that all reasonable measures are in place to prevent the siltation of nearby water courses. Temporary and permanent erosion and sedimentation controls include grassing and mulching of disturbed areas and structural barriers at those locations that will ensure erosion during construction will be managed to within acceptable limits. Acceptable limits are as established by the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality and the approved Land Disturbance Permit, and applicable codes, ordinances, rules, regulations, and the approved State issued land disturbance permit. C. Land disturbance activity shall not commence until all appropriate permits have been issued. D. The General Provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and General Requirements, apply to the work specified in this Section. E. Land Disturbance Permit shall be obtained and paid for by the OWNER. A. Provide a written guarantee covering the building against defective materials or workmanship for a period of two years from date of acceptance of completed work. B. Work will be judged a failure due to water or air leakage, sealant hardening, cracking, shrinking, sagging or staining adjacent surfaces. A. The Contractor shall provide Audiovisual System(s) compatible with the Owner's communications systems (i.e. telephone, video, and computer systems) and operations. B. The Contractor shall provide equipment that, where required, shall conform to the applicable requirements of the Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., local codes, the National Electrical Code and any other governing codes. Such items shall bear a label or mark indicating their conformance to the above requirements. C. The Contractor shall provide complete and operational system(s) configured and installed for user-friendly operation and low maintenance. Provide for reprogramming of the remote control software two (2) times, as directed by the Owner or Consultant, before Final Acceptance. Provide for two (2) level adjustments of the Audio System(s), as directed by the Owner or Consultant, before Final Acceptance. On-site factory technical support shall be provided, if necessary, to assure performance. D. The Contractor shall restore all finish hardware to original condition including painting, ceiling modifications, and attachments as specified in Division 09 Finishes. E. Installation work shall be in compliance with all applicable standards and all governing codes and regulations of the authorities having jurisdiction and the Contract Documents. F. The Contractor shall validate exact location and installation of the equipment, power, conduit, and raceway systems. G. All software affiliated with the equipment, including but not limited to, the audio DSP, Control System, etc. is the property of the Owner and will be provided on labeled CDs for archival purposes at project acceptance. H. The Contractor shall supply all control software, programming service codes, programming notes, files interactive source codes, all media and associated software, touch panel design, all passwords, licenses, dangles and "keys" or other associated control or programming items at no additional cost to the Owner at commissioning. A. The installation shall, at a minimum, consist of purchase and installation of submersible grinder style pumps and controls, flowmeters, discharge piping and all appurtenances as shown on the Drawings and as specified herein. B. One complete system will be supplied for the 8,000 gallon UST Process Liquid (i.e. leachate) Storage and Transfer System. This system will be located near the unloading dock and storage canopy as shown on the drawings. The submersible pump will pump liquids into solid dual containment HDPE force main pipe to the valve vault with flow meter and isolation valve, and to either to a transfer tanker or the city sanitary sewer system. C. One complete system will be supplied for the Process Liquid Holding Tank with Submersible Pump system. This system will be located near the transfer trailer tunnels on the lower level as shown on the drawings. The submersible pump will pump liquid from the holding tank (lower level) to the 8,000 gallon UST (upper level) via dual containment HDPE force main pipe. D. For each system, an identical spare pump will be supplied by the Contractor. Thus, four (4) submersible pumps will be supplied for this project.
