Site work for a playground / park / athletic field in Fergus, Ontario. Design plans call for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.
Rehabilitation and reimagination of Confederation Park in Fergus. Phase 1 focuses on land stewardship and includes: invasive species management; pavilion and structure demolition; sightline clearing; boardwalk replacement; signage; and seating option improvements. Phase focuses on equitable access and includes: parking lot accessibility improvements; new accessible ramp switchback; creation of defined trailheads; and an end-to-end accessible pathway through trail surface improvements and maintenance enhancements. Phase 3 focuses on amenities and includes: two new picnic pavilions; a natural play/gathering area; new lookout deck overhanging the grand River; new non-motorized boat launch upstream of the dam; and signage. TIMELINE: Conceptual plans were approved by Council February 2026. Next steps include detailed design for Phase 1. Phases 2 and 3 are subject to future budget approvals. Further update fall 2026.
