Site work and new construction of a recreation facility in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Completed plans call for the construction of a 1,138-square-foot, one-story above grade recreation facility; and for site work for a recreation facility.
Offeror Question Deadline: 5pm 9/05/25 The Q&A option will remain open until seven (7) business days prior to the proposal due date. The City of Albuquerque is requesting proposals to construct the Australia at the ABQ BioPark Zoo - P2. The design intent is to create an authentic, immersive, Australian exhibit that provides visitors a comfortable and enjoyable means to gain a deeper understanding of and respect for Australian fauna and culture or 'Country'. The design provides a storyline experience that weaves visitors on a walking path through 1.8 acres of interior and exterior Australia-themed exhibits. The scope includes two additions onto and a renovation of an existing building and new construction of three exhibit buildings with associated utilities as well as landscaping. The Program includes: 1. Garden Area (GAR) (13,476sf): NEW Cockatoo Aviary and animal holding building (A.H.B.) with exterior viewing and NEW metal shade structures. A NEW yarning circle shade structure with a rainwater feature at the existing Cafe including NEW rammed earth stools and bench. The Garden area also includes a new vehicular gate and turnaround location specifically for fire trucks. 2. Mixed Species Building (MSB) (8,064 sf): Tree Kangaroo, Echidna, Birds, and Reptiles Exhibit: REFURBISH Existing Koala exhibit and holding building. NEW mixed bird animal holding building (A.H.B.). The existing exhibit will be refurbished to accommodate a visitor walkthrough experience of mixed species that include the new Tree Kangaroos, Echidnas, and mixed birds. This building will also accommodate new exhibits for the Python, Turtles, and Skinks. 3. Outback (OUT) (22,305sf): A NEW animal holding building (A.H.B.), a NEW outdoor exhibit for Kangaroos and Emus with an adjacent visitor walkway and animal interaction locations, and a NEW exterior education area/yarning circle with rammed earth stools. 4. Tasmania Exhibit (TAS) (31,534sf): REFURBISH existing Tasmanian animal holding building (A.H.B.), two NEW Tasmanian animal holding buildings (A.H.B.), and three NEW animal transfer areas allowing the animals to move between exhibits either through transparent-topped tunnels or over the visitor walkway. A NEW shade structure for outdoor gathering and educational events, another for BioPark vendors, and a third near the existing Zoo lake, with rammed earth stools, are included.
