The Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail solicits interested Offerors to submit proposals to provide perimeter security fence installation for Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail. Fencing Removal & Installation: See Attachment A for images of facility a. Remove existing posts, poles, 250' chain-link fence, and gates and dispose, off-site. b. Install no more than 1350 linear feet of 12' high x 6 gauge galvanized with openings of 2" x 2" twisted (barb) selvage chain-link fence on the perimeter of the facility. Three (3) strands. c. Install 250 linear feet of 10' high x 6 gauge galvanized with openings of 2" x 2" twisted (barb) selvage chain-link fence between the housing units. Three (3) strands. d. Vertical poles to be schedule 40 x 3" galvanized and installed in the earth with 3000 psi concrete a minimum of 36". Poles to be 8' c/c. All Terminal Poles must be 4". Sch 40 is preferred. e. Structure to be reinforced with 1 5/8" galvanized rails at top, center, and bottom. Perimeter fencing, rails placed on the interior. Fencing between the building, rails place on the exterior. f. Chain-link to be attached to structure with heavy duty prison ties. g. Galvanized angle's to be installed at top of poles to take barbed wire and one row of razor wire. Perimeter - outside. Fencing between the buildings - inside. h. Razor wire to be 30" double spiral concertina and barbed wire attached to angled cap with stainless steel wire on 12' and 10' chain-link. i. Two (2) rows of 30" flat panel razor wire attached on all chain-link to include cantilever gates as determined by the COR. 2. Walk through gates: a. Eight (8) gates with heavy duty galvanized hinges to be installed designated by COR b. Walk through gates openings must measure minimum 7' x 4' made of schedule 40 x 2" galvanized. c. Locations of the swing gates shall be determined by the COR and annotated on the copies of the contract drawings used by the Contractor and the COR. . The contractor shall provide, furnish, and install, and align all necessary and appropriate commercial gate assembly components. e. Heavy duty, commercial grade, adjustable hinges, gate latches that are capable of being locked with a pad lock. f. The Contractor shall install gate plumb and level in a closed position, according to the manufacturer's written instructions and allow for full opening without interference. g. Direction of gate swing to be coordinated with and approved by the COR. h. Adjust hardware for smooth operation and lubricate where necessary. 3. High Security Cantilever GATE CONSTRUCTION DETAILS: a. Top Track: The frame(s) and track(s) are to be fabricated from aluminum extrusions (6061-T6). Single track applications provide an upper track that weighs 5.15 / foot. Double track applications provide an upper track that weighs 11.916 / ft. The primary members shall be "P" shaped in a cross section with no less than 2". Minimum of gate 12' wide opening. b. A single extrusion track member is to be located on each side of the overall box gate frame. The track member is a single extrusion combined with a 2" square structural member. No keying required. c. The single extrusion track and adjoining 2"x2" square structural member are joined with its corresponding track extrusion by means of perpendicular 2"x2" square members at each vertical upright. 1"x1" square diagonal supports will be placed in between the perpendicular supports as shown d. When the gate frame is manufactured in two horizontal pieces or sections, they shall be spliced in the field (the gate frame shall be fabricated in one or multiple sections depending on size requirements or project constraints). e. End and Intermediate Vertical Uprights: The vertical uprights shall be a minimum of 2" x 2" x 1.12#/ foot (6063-T6) aluminum extrusions. f. Interior vertical members shall alternate between 2"x2" and 1"x2 running parallel to the face of the gate. g. Diagonal Bracing. Diagonal "X" bracing of 3/16" or 1/4" diameter stainless or galvanized steel cable shall be installed throughout the entire gate frame. h. Bottom Track: The bottom track shall be a minimum of 2" x 2" x 1.12#/ foot (6063-T6) aluminum extrusions. For openings greater than 25', the bottom track shall be a minimum of 2" x 5" x 3.12# / foot. i. The gate shall be constructed in "box" form with the width between the frames measuring 24" from outside to outside. Between these frames there shall be a continuous series of 1"x1" diagonal and horizontal bracing with the diagonals welded at approximately 45 degrees to the frames. . All welds on the gate frame shall conform to Welding Procedure Specification and Procedure Qualification Record to ensure conformance to the AWS D1.2 Structural Welding Code. All individual welders shall be certified to AWS D1.2 welding code. See 1.02 D. k. Gate Mounting: The gate frame is to be supported from the track by two (2) swivel type, selfaligning, 4-wheeled, sealed lubricant, ball-bearing truck assemblies. l. The bottom of each support post shall have a bracket equipped with a pair of 3" (76mm) UHMW guide wheels. Wheel cover protectors shall be included with bottom guides to comply with UL325. m. Gap protectors shall be provided and installed, compliant with ASTM F 2200-05. n. Hight Security cantilever gates: Quantity two (2) with minimum of 12' located on the access road on the east and west end of the facility Intent to Award, Fencing sub contractor, Hercules Fence Company, bid value not released for publication
