The City of Compton Public Works Street Maintenance Department is seeking Request for Proposals (RFPs) from qualified firms to install street name signs throughout the City. The purpose of this project is to ensure that all street signs are properly assessed for condition and installed or replaced where necessary to ensure safety and compliance with relevant standards. The scope of the project includes the following tasks: Removal and Installation of Street Signs Install new or replacement street name signs at locations identified, in accordance with all applicable safety, accessibility and municipal guidelines. Provide signposts and hardware necessary for installation where applicable. Avoid damaging existing pavement and landscaping during signage installation. Contractor shall furnish all labor, materials, tools, equipment and incidentals necessary for removal and installation of signage as specified. Upon completion of the work, the City will conduct a final inspection for acceptance. Traffic Control Contractor shall conduct operations to minimize inconvenience and interference with streets and roads that are to remain in use. The Contractor shall provide and maintain the necessary traffic control to ensure public safety per the latest California Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices and the Compton Municipal Code. All traffic shall be maintained with appropriate traffic control devices and flagmen to regulate, warn and guide traffic at the work site. All road crossings shall be performed in such a manner that a minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction is provided at all times. Maintenance of traffic shall be in accordance with the requirements of the City. The term of the initial agreement shall be for a period of one (1) year, tentatively commencing October 1, 2025 through September 30, 2026, with two (2) one-year optional extensions. The City will retain the option, at its sole discretion to extend the agreement. The City also reserves the right to terminate the contract at any time. Recommend Award to City Council September 16, 2025 SELECTION The City of Compton reserves the right to award a contract to the respondent who presents a proposal that best meets the requirements as listed herein and represents the most beneficial procurement as determined by the City. The award of a contract for the described services will be made by the City's RFP Evaluation Committee. Proposals will be evaluated on the proposer's ability to provide services that meet the requirements set forth in this RFP. The City reserves the right to make such investigations as it deems necessary to determine the ability of the proposer to provide services meeting a satisfactory level of performance in accordance with the City's requirements. The proposer shall furnish such information and data for this purpose as the City may request, at no cost to the City. The adequacy, depth and clarity of the proposal will influence, to a considerable degree, its evaluation. RIGHT TO REJECT PROPOSALS This RFP does not commit the City to award a contract, pay any cost incurred in the preparation of a proposal in response to this RFP or to procure or contract for services. The City intends to award a contract(s) on the basis of the best interest and advantage to the City and reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals received as a result of this RFP, to negotiate with any or all qualified proposers or to cancel this RFP in part or in its entirety, if it is in the best interest of the City to do so.
