Renovation of a municipal facility in Surrey, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Project involves a comprehensive evaluation and design of the existing blinds and window system located on the 2nd floor. Consultant is required to identify any deficiencies of the installed internal window/blinds, propose a viable solution to improve performance, safety and privacy. Detainees are constantly damaging the blinds & window frosting that are installed internally. The blinds tracks as well as the window mullions also have vulnerable points of ligation. In response, PSPC has applied anti-pick caulking, metal flashing and security screws to mitigate risks. However, this caulking presents a challenge for blind replacement. Consultant to also verify the windows installed. The consultant's expertise is sought to explore viable alternatives and address this issue effectively. In addition, the consultant is to ensure that the windows and blinds system meet the current detention-grade standards, the suitability of materials for a detention environment, and resistance to tampering or misuse, assess the adequacy of existing blinds in controlling natural light and visibility for both staff and detainees.
