Renovation of a municipal facility in Surrey, British Columbia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.
Reference Number 0000301105 Pricing Lump sum Client has requested to redesign the washrooms across all seven units due to the drain and plumbing failures, and the current design poses challenges to the maintenance and repairs. Additionally, the new washroom designs should incorporate improved lighting (remove motion sensor and change to light switch). The emergency pull stations will also need to moved to lower area for access in the event of slipping in the shower. There are seven units in total, all washrooms have a regular shower and one accessible shower. Consultant to investigate the reason for the failed drainage, and provide solutions and design of the drainage system and all shower finishes and required components to be compatible for the new drainage system, also for easy repair / maintenance. Consultant will also be required to complete drain pipe scanning. Consultant will also be required to provide temporary solutions for the showers to be functional and protected from water damage, until the construction is fully completed. The shower drain in the Alpha Unit has failed, floor drain is inadequate in channeling water causing water to overflow, due to possible blockage or damage to the drain body or pipework, and the current epoxy shower flooring makes repairs challenging for drain and plumbing repair. In addition, the area surrounding the failing drain is coated with seamless epoxy floor system. Epoxy finish is intact but poses a challenge for access to the drain without damaging the surrounding surface. Cutting or removal will compromise the waterproof and chemical resistant properties of the epoxy layer. Consultant to investigate the reason for the failed drainage and provide solutions and design of the drainage system and all shower finishes and required components to be compatible for the new drainage system, that will be easy for long term repair or maintenance. Consultant is required to complete drainpipe scanning during design. Motion-sensor lighting will be removed and replaced with light switches.
