Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Orange, Connecticut. Completed plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.

**As of October 30, 2025, the project was awarded to Greenway Property Services, with an awarded amount of $35,421.50** The work consists of furnishing all labor, material, supplies, equipment, tools, and incidentals necessary to renovate the infield area of the Roche Little League Field, located in the Old Tavern Road Park at 110 Old Tavern Road in Orange, Connecticut. The Contractor shall include remove the clay and sod from the entire infield and 6 feet beyond the base lines, and furnish and install clay, topsoil, and sod to replace the infield area. The renovated infield shall be graded to drain away from the pitcher's mound. The contractor shall remove and reset the existing pitcher's mound and base plates. The scope of work shall include: a) Remove existing infield clay to at least 6" depth and stockpile existing clay onsite for Parks Department use b) Furnish and install Beam Clay Baseball Diamond Mix or approved equal c) 6.5' wide basepaths d) 5' radius pitcher's mound. e) Pitcher's mound 6" above home plate f) 9' radius around 1st and 3rd bases (clay circle will be coach's boxes) g) 10' radius around home plate The town will handle any necessary irrigation system adjustments. At the completion of the project, the contractor shall clean the work area and remove all debris, materials, tools, and equipment from the site. The location of the site and the work area is shown on the attached Site Location Map. The Town of Orange requests bids from qualified contractors to renovate the infield area of the Roche Little League Field located in the Old Tavern Road Park at 110 Old Tavern Road in Orange, Connecticut. Bidders are required to comply with the instructions contained in these Bid Documents, and to provide information where requested. Bids must be made on the forms contained herein. No state funds are anticipated, and the project is expected to cost less than $50,000, therefore, CHRO small/minority/women/disabled business set-aside requirements do not apply. Mandatory Pre-Bid Site Visit Bidders must call Chris Small, Parks and Recreation Maintenance Supervisor, at 203-343-3893 to arrange a time to visit the work site.Failure to attend the Mandatory Site Visit SHALL DISQUALIFY any person or firm from the bidding process. Change orders related to conditions that could be observed on a site visit will not be approved. Questions All questions shall be submitted by email to the Director of Public Works at bbrinton@orange-ct.gov. All questions will be answered by email. Work shall be completed on or before October 10, 2025. Bidders may withdraw their bid any time prior to the time of bid opening. No bidder shall withdraw, cancel, or modify their bid for a period of sixty (60) days after bid opening. The Town of Orange reserves the right to accept any bid, to reject any or all bids, to waive any minor bid informality or irregularity, to take into account the residency and business location of bidders within the Town of Orange, and to award the bid deemed by the Town of Orange to be in its best interest. Lowest price shall not be the sole determining factor when awarding the bid. Bidders who are delinquent in taxes or fees to the Town of Orange will not be considered responsible bidders. The Town of Orange reserves the right to reduce the scope of work and award only some of the tasks to a Contractor. The successful bidder shall obtain all required permits. Town building (including plumbing, mechanical, and electrical) permit fees will be waived, except for the state educational fee of $0.26 per $1,000 construction value. Performance and Payment Bonds are required if the bid amount exceeds $100,000. The Contractor, before commencing any work, shall furnish the Town with a certificate, or certificates of insurance, naming the Town of Orange as an additional insured on a primary and non-contributory basis. All insurance shall be kept in effect by the Contractor throughout the terms of this Contract. Any lapse of coverage shall be deemed a material breach of Contract and cause for immediate termination. The Town of Orange shall be named as additional insured on all applicable policies. A waiver of subrogation shall apply in favor of the Town of Orange. If any insurance coverage is provided on a "claims made" policy basis, an extended reporting period of at least 3 years after the date of project completion or final payment is made, whichever occurs later. These insurance requirements are not a limitation of liability and may be subject to change based on specific project cost and scope. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Contractor will defend, indemnify and hold the Town of Orange all of its employees and boards harmless from and against all claims, bodily injury and property damage, judgments and expenses, including attorney fees that arise from or are alleged to arise from the performance of this work. Prevailing wages are required if the bid amount exceeds $100,000.
