The City of Gaithersburg is seeking sealed proposals to secure the services of a qualified and experienced Contractor to design and build two shelter structures at the Public Works Maintenance Facility, as identified in a recent Maryland Department of the Environment General Permit for Discharges from Stormwater Associated with Industrial Activities (Permit No. 20-SW) inspection. Permit language requires the DPW facility to maintain good housekeeping and minimize sediment and pollutant runoff into the storm drain system. A. Construction of 13 concrete material storage bays with side walls, rear walls, all-weatherresistant roofing, and interior lighting, with the following considerations and materials required: i. Storage Bay Walls a) Material: Precast concrete panels or interlocking concrete blocks, materials must be able to withstand heavy loads and accidental impacts from machinery. ii. Design: Panels can be installed vertically or horizontally between steel columns. Interlocking blocks like Legato, Duo(TM), or Vee(R) blocks offer flexibility for future expansion and meet fire-resistance standards. iii. Height Panels can be customized up to 12 feet in height, allowing for significant storage capacity. Roofing: i. All-Weather: Metal roofing or rubberized flashing cement may be used for additional protection against water leaks and extreme temperatures. C. Interior Lighting: energy-efficient LED lighting systems to ensure proper illumination while reducing energy consumption. D. Each Offeror shall acquaint themselves thoroughly as to the character and nature of the work to be done, making careful examination of the site. No plea of ignorance of conditions that exist will be accepted as an excuse for any failure or omission on the part of the Contractor to fulfill in every detail all of the requirements of a resilient contract.
