Modern Hydraulic Elevator Replacement o Complete removal of old hydraulic equipment. o Install new hydraulic elevator system with efficient submersible pump unit, jack, and controller-ll plans must meet ASME A17.1/CSA B44 Elevator Code, NFPA fire codes, and local/state building regulation o New cab and fixtures. o Enhanced safety features and code compliance. o Include energy-saving features such as soft-start motor controls. 2 o Include replacing a piston shaft and hydraulic cylinder removing old cylinder and oil and installing a new one. a. Shaft Construction: Typical shaft construction shall be reinforced concrete or steel-framed with fire-rated enclosures; and b. Hydraulic Cylinder Replacement: Older hydraulic elevators often possess buried single-bore jacks that corrode. New installations shall use PVCprotected jacks or holeless/telescopic systems to prevent leaks. o Include proprietary/non-proprietary system details. Inspection & Commissioning o Third-Party Testing: Hydrostatic pressure test of the jack and piping before operation. o State Elevator Inspector: Witnesses acceptance tests, including emergency lowering, overspeed valve testing, and fire recall. o Documentation: Updated drawings, maintenance manuals, and permits
