The City of Emporia seeks sealed bids from qualified contractors to construct street/drainage maintenance improvements at two intersections within the City of Emporia. Work will take place with minor encroachments into the traffic pattern. Scope of Work The contract shall cover the total cost of all labor, insurance, permits, materials, personnel, transportation, supplies, traffic control, etc., as necessary for or incidental to the performance of the work as follows and in accordance with the specifications, terms and conditions as specified herein The Project includes some portions of streets to be milled at up to 2 inches and resurfaced with 2" asphalt overlay of SM 12.5D or equivalent surface asphalt and some portions to require full depth pavement replacement on the city streets listed below. Milling materials retained by the city. Complete installation of proposed drainage improvements, curb & gutter, and temporary erosion and sediment controls is required. The work shall be done in accordance with VDOT Road and Bridge Standards. The work is to be completed by November 14, 2025. Bidder Requirements Bidders shall submit a bid bond equal to 5% of the total bid amount with their proposal. Bidders may submit a certified check, cash escrow, personal bond, property bond, or bank letter of credit equal to 5% of the bid amount, in lieu of a bid bond. Peachtree Street Drainage Improvements Sawcut, demolish existing pavement, and remove existing pavement as show on the plans. Mill existing pavement to a depth of 2"at the intersection of Peachtree Street and South Street Approximate milling limits are 105 feet in length and 15 feet in width as indicated on plan sheet 3. Remove and Re-construct the existing curb and gutter at the connection as indicated on plan sheet 3 to ensure positive drainage along South Street and across the entrance. Re-grade the roadside ditch between South Street and Miles Circle. Remove the existing drop inlet on upstream end of pipe at Miles Circle. Install new 12" ductile iron pipe under Peachtree Street and tie to existing structure on downstream end. Repave full depth over pipe installation. Harding Street - Temple Avenue Intersection Drainage Improvements Remove & replace the existing curb and gutter on Harding Street from Temple Avenue to a point down Harding Street. Mill existing pavement to a depth of 2". Approximate milling limits are 150 feet in length and 30 feet wide. Sawcut, demolish and remove pavement as shown on plan sheet 4. Install 4 a feet wide concrete flume from the north side to the south side of Harding Street at the intersection with Temple Avenue.
