Site work for a civil project in Highland, California. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The District conducted a thorough review of vulnerable potable water mains to identify an appropriate project site for water main retrofits. This review considered locations of vulnerable pipe materials, population density, and the locations of critical customers. Ultimately, the District decided to focus on two areas. Approximately 35,000 linear feet, or 6.5 miles, of water mains are proposed for retrofit in the project areas. Of these pipes, nearly 85-percent are asbestos cement pipe, and the remaining are made of steel double-dipped and wrapped, uncoated steel, and cement mortar lined and coated steel. The District is currently seeking proposals from Engineering Services Consultants for design services, including preparation of comprehensive engineered drawings, cost estimates, specifications, bid package, and construction support.
