Site work for a road / highway in Cape Charles, Virginia. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway.

The work entails approximately 264 square feet of concrete parking pad at the eastern terminus of Park Row adjacent to Central Park, including wheel stops, signs and pavement striping. Install two (2) 8-foot-wide accessible parking spaces and an 8-foot-wide access aisle per the attached drawing. Concrete pad shall be approximately 11'x24' and shall abut the concrete sidewalk to the east and asphalt pavement to the west. Stripe the spaces and access aisle with white marking paint. Mark each space with the international symbol of access in blue paint. Symbol stencil and blue marking paint shall be provided by the Town. Provide and install one concrete wheel stop in each space. Install one accessible parking sign at the head of each space. Signs and poles shall be provided by the Town. Specifications Excavation shall be performed as necessary so that finished grade is consistent with surrounding area. Excess excavated material shall be properly disposed of. Foundation shall be shaped and compacted to provide an outboard slope of between 1% and 2% for finished concrete. VDOT #21A stone shall be added where necessary. Foundation shall be thoroughly moistened immediately prior to concrete placement. Parking pad shall be 4" thick VDOT Class A3, 3000 psi, concrete. Forms shall be straight, free from warp, extend the full depth of the concrete and of sufficient strength to resist the pressure of newly placed concrete without dislodging or springing. Forms shall be braced so that they will remain in true horizontal and vertical alignment until their removal. Forms shall be cleaned of foreign matter and coated with a releasing agent or thoroughly wetted with water immediately before concrete placement. Concrete shall be placed in forms by methods that will prevent segregation of the mix. Concrete shall be spread full depth and width and brought to grade by screeding and straight edging. Concrete shall be spaded adjacent to forms to prevent a honeycomb appearance in the finished work. The surface shall be smoothed with a wooden float to produce a surface free from irregularities. The surface shall have a light broom finish. Outside edges of the slab and joints shall be rounded with an edging tool having a radius of 1/4 inch. The pad shall be divided into three 8'-wide sections by control joints formed by a jointing tool or trowel, or may be saw cut. Control joints shall extend into the concrete at least 1/4 of the depth and shall be approximately 1/8 inch in width. The concrete shall be cured and protected immediately following operations and shall not be opened to traffic for the first 3 days after placement. Striping shall be 4 inches wide. For clarification or interpretation of this IFB contact Mr. Bob Panek in the Town Managers office, 757-331-3259 ext. 19. The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive irregularities and informalities in any bid. Bids received after the specified time of closing will be returned unopened.
