The project consists of minor renovations of two existing laboratories. The work includes the removal of existing laboratory workstations and laboratory casework. Minor ceiling and bulkhead demolition along with the removal of existing floor coatings. New work includes installation of new laboratory casework and professor workstations. Modifications to existing laboratory casework, ceiling patching, and floor finishing. Plumbing and electrical work includes minor demolition of existing plumbing system at the demolished workstations and the installation of new floor drains and boxes as shown on the contract documents. Bids will be received for a stipulated sum contract. Iowa Construction Sales Tax Exemption Certificates will be provided on this project. Bid security shall be agreed upon as the measure of liquidated damages which Owner will sustain by failure, neglect or refusal of bidder to deliver a signed contract stipulating performance of the work in unqualified compliance with Contract Documents or furnish the required 100% Contract Performance and Payment Bond within ten (10) days after receipt of Notice of Award. No bid may be withdrawn for a period of forty-five (45) calendar days after the date of opening. This project has a participation goal for certified Targeted Small Businesses. The participation goal of 10% is specified in the Special Conditions. By virtue of statutory authority, a preference will be given to products and provisions grown and coal produced within the State of Iowa.
