This project involves replacing existing undersized Three (3) 36-inch reinforced concrete pipes with two (2) 6' (w) x 5' (h) box culverts with cast in place head walls beneath Jones Road, this will match the hydraulic capacity of the 10' (w) x 6' (h) box culvert approximately 800 linear feet upstream. Additionally, two (2) downstream 54" pipes will be removed and two (2) 36" reinforced concrete pipes will be replaced with dual 8' (w) x 5' (h) box culverts. The objective is to improve hydraulic conveyance and alleviate upstream flooding at Jones Road and Upstream of Highway 90. Hydraulic modeling indicates that the proposed culvert upgrade will lower the 100-year flood elevation by approximately 2.65 feet upstream of Highway 90, 3.85 feet at Jones Road, and 4.32' at the downstream existing two (2) 36" Reinforced Concrete Pipes, by achieving these reductions the 100-year flood event will be contained within the existing ditch. The anticipated start date for this work is December 1st, 2025. The project will consist of the following key improvements: o Replacing (3) 36-Inch reinforced concrete pipes with (2) 6' (w) x 5' (h) box culverts under Jones Road, including cast in place headwalls. Headwall design to be provided by contractor. o Replace (2) 36"-Inch Reinforced Concrete Pipes with (2) 8' (w) x 5' (h) box culverts under and existing downstream farm road, including rip rap outlets which will significantly increase flow capacity and improve drainage efficiency. Rip Rap with Class C an area of 320 square yard for additional stabilization north of this culvert. o Associated water and sewer relocations as required at Jones Road. All utility relocation work must be completed by a Grand Strand Water and Sewer Authority approved contractor. Additional work required but, not limited to: o Resurfacing of affected roadway sections. o Pumping and dewatering as necessary for construction o Permanent grassing for erosion control and site stabilization. o Miscellaneous landscape restoration. o Relocation of an existing water line and sewer line. o Relocation plans to be provided prior to the start of work. o Minor channel regrading Rip rap inlet and outlet stabilization.
