As of October 23, 2025, project was put out again with an updated RFP. No definite date for the rebid. Walk-in Cooler/ Freezer Replacement for the Dekalb County Rehabilitation and Nursing Center This Request for Proposal (RFP) is for the purpose of, contracting with a qualified firm to provide Walk-in Cooler/ Frezer Replacement for the DeKalb County Rehab & Nursing Center, subject to availability of funds. Project must be completed within the 2025 calendar year Any communication regarding this Bid or Request between the date of issue and date of award is required to go through the individual listed. Unauthorized contact with other DeKalb County staff or officers is strictly forbidden. ELECTRONIC COMMUNICATIONS REQUIRED. PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK A. Temporary Work & Relocations o Temporary Zipper Wall: Build a temporary zipper wall as directed by the Owner to separate the work area and maintain kitchen operations. o Ice Machine Relocation: o Pump down refrigeration system of the existing ice machine. o Disconnect unit from all utilities o Relocate unit within 10 feet of current location. o Provide electric to temporary location o Provide temporary refrigeration lines. o Utilize cold water and open site drain at existing prep sink adjacent to temporary location. B. Owner Responsibilities o Empty all food and remove shelving from the existing walk-in cooler/freezer. o Turn off and defrost the unit prior to demolition. C. Demolition & Removal o Once panels are fully defrosted, contractor shall: o Pump down, disconnect from electric, plumbing and refrigeration lines, and remove all existing copper refrigeration lines and components (Condenser and Evaporator Coil). o Dispose of refrigerant and materials per local and federal regulations. o Coordinate the disconnection of existing fire suppression drops with owner's vendor in the existing units. o Break up and remove existing quarry tile floor, underlying concrete, and 4" insulated manufacturer floor. Dispose of the flooring in dumpster provided by contractor. o Disassemble walk-in cooler/freezer panels. o Remove and dispose of all materials in contractor-provided dumpster. D. Site Preparation o Infill existing 6 1/2 " recessed pit with concrete to provide 4-1/2" level depth to accept new 4" manufacturer insulated floor in both compartments per attached floor detail. o Provide even transition between existing kitchen floor and new insulated floor. o Infill as required on exterior perimeter. E. New Walk-In Cooler/Freezer Installation o Provide and install new walk-in cooler/freezer as per specifications provided in project documents. o Install new copper refrigeration lines using existing building penetrations. o Set new outdoor condensers in the same locations as original units- exterior of the building on metal stands adjacent to food service. o Make all final utility connections as required for all units o Start-up and certify refrigeration systems o Utilize existing utilities (electric-verify and drain) for connections. Provide new electric and IT requirements for the Artic Fox alarm system specified o Coordinate the reinstallation of the fire suppression drops and penetrations as required o Provide and install new wire shelving, as specified, for walk-in Freezer F. Ice Machine Reinstallation o Move ice machine back to original location. o Reconnect to all utilities, recharge refrigerant, and start up system. o Verify proper operation.
