The Town of Somerset, Chevy Chase, Maryland ("Town"), located in Montgomery County, hereby solicits proposals from qualified vendors or firms with experience in providing snow removal and ice remediation services. The successful bidder should be prepared to meet with the Town Council, Mayor, and Staff as needed. Contract length will be for three years. The Town of Somerset is a small, incorporated municipality across roughly 0.28 square miles of land and four miles of street (many quite narrow) consisting of 415+ residential houses, a Town Hall, and a Pool. See appendices A and B for a map of the Town and a listing of streets, respectively. The successful bidder will work closely with the Mayor and Town Manager to ensure that work is done promptly and properly. Scope of work. a) The successful bidder would be engaged on an as-needed basis for all snow removal and ice remediation services in the Town, including the following locations: i) All Town streets; ii) All Town sidewalks including Town sidewalk along Wisconsin Avenue; iii) Town Hall driveway and parking lot; iv) Town Hall walkway, steps, and deck; v) Somerset Pool parking lot from Warwick to mulch path leading to Friendship Heights, not including the portion that is adjacent to the stream; and vi) Fire hydrants. b) Snow removal and ice remediation services includes: i) Pretreatment; ii) Plowing and shoveling of snow; iii) Spreading of sand, ice melt, and salt; and iv) Snow relocation and hauling. The Town of Somerset reserves the right to reject all proposals in part or in full and to waive formalities that may best serve the interests of the Town.
