Shawnee County is soliciting sealed bids for replacement of perimeter security doors at the Shawnee County Department of Corrections. This project is for the repair and/or replacement of perimeter doors (some with windows) connected to the adult and juvenile detention centers for Shawnee County Department of Corrections. The specific scope of this project is as follows: Repair: Repair eight perimeter doors. These doors will be 2" thick, 14 gauge hollow metal, steel stiffened with foam insulation. Five of these doors will require work to repair the existing frame, in addition to the repair work on the door itself. These doors are all 36" x 84". Replacement: Replace 12 perimeter doors. These doors will be 2" thick, 14 gauge hollow metal, steel stiffened with foam insulation. Three of these doors will require work to repair the existing frame, to receive the new door. The remaining nine will require replacement of the frame. These doors are all 36" x 84". Seven of these doors have a 5"w x 20"l glazed security window inset. Each door / frame set-up will need some level of specialized cut-out for the lock system, the closer, and the hinges to function with the security level of the door. For all replacement doors, the vendor will paint the finished door prior to delivery and installation. Vendor will be responsible for the installation of the replacement doors and frames. Where the replacement door has a repaired frame, the vendor will complete the repairs of the frame, then install the new replacement door. Subsequent negotiations may be conducted, but such negotiations will not constitute acceptance, rejection or a counteroffer on the part of the County. All questions requesting clarification of items/issues discussed at the pre-proposal conference must be submitted in writing via the online . Proposers should clearly understand that the only official answer or position of Shawnee County will be in writing. Any modification to this Request arising from the pre-proposal conference, as well as answers to written questions shall be made in writing by addendum and will be issued through the online bid portal.
