Description

Renovation of a mixed-use development in San Antonio, Texas. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a 2,800-seat stadium; conference / convention center; and restaurant.

Plans call for the redevelopment plan envisions converting the Freeman Exposition Hall into a 2,800-seat multifunction arena with a show arena, pens, and an upscale bar and dining mezzanine. This multi-phase, master-planned district will integrate commercial, civic, entertainment, and recreational uses with improvements to the Freeman Coliseum and Frost Bank Center, leveraging County-owned land as well as the potential integration of adjacent and surrounding properties through a public-private partnership and ground lease structure. As of August 14, 2026, it is currently unknown to when a developer will be selected. Funding was approved in November 2025. Further details regarding design, bid schedule, construction, and completion timelines have not been released.
