Renovation of a detention facility in Stryker, Ohio. Completed plans call for the renovation of a 418-square-foot, one-story above grade detention facility.
WORK COVERED BY CONTRACT DOCUMENTS A. The Work of Project is defined by the Contract Documents and includes, but is not limited to, the following: 1. K-Unit presently has an Entry Vestibule between two Detention Areas. Each Detention Area is a dormitory style housing unit. a. The Entry Vestibule will be revised to create a secure Control Room with a smaller Vestibule leading to the two Detention Areas. b. The Control Room will expand the existing vestibule for improved observation into each Detention Area's Day Room and will include but not be limited to: 1) CMU walls with hollow metal framed security windows. 2) Security lid above areas where Control Room extends into Day Rooms. 3) Plastic laminate countertops. 4) Thru-wall transaction drawer. 5) Lay-in ceiling. 6) VCT flooring. 2. Site Civil a. No site work. 3. HVAC a. Install new heat pump unit on roof . b. Connect heat pump unit to new ductwork for Control Room. c. Salvage, clean and reinstall existing ceiling devices as indicated on drawings. 4. Plumbing a. Install new condensate line from heat pump to existing Staff lavatory. 5. Fire Protection a. Remove and install new fire protection heads to accommodate new Control Room. b. Extend system as required for new Control Room. 6. Electrical a. Provide power for modifications to lighting, HVAC, transaction drawers, and security systems.The Work of this Contract is to modify the Entry Vestibule walls between the detention areas to provide a new Control Room. 8. K-Unit will be occupied by detainees during the duration of construction. a. A temporary security wall will be required to separate the area of work from the two housing unit day spaces. B. The above objective necessitates interior work for each trade involved. 1. All work is to be completed to maintain a secure perimeter for K-Unit. 2. Roof work will need to be coordinated and staged with the interior work to maintain a secure perimeter. Bidder Questions: Submit written questions to Architect no later than 7 days prior to Bid Opening.
