Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.

The general nature of the work on which bids are requested is: 772 LF of Water Main, Trenchless, PVC, 8" Dia, 500 LF of Water Main, Trenched, PVC, 8" Dia, 144.4 SY of Removal of Sidewalk/Driveway, 161 SY of Sidewalk, PCC, 6"/4" Depth, 157 SY of Pavement Removal, 172.3 SY of Full Depth Patch and miscellaneous related work and appurtenances in accordance with the contract documents. Refer to Sheet C.01 in the plans for item specifics and quantities. THIS PROJECT WILL BE SUBJECT TO DAVIS BACON WAGE RATES AND OTHER FEDERAL REQUIREMENTS. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security as defined in Code of lowa Section 26.8 and as specified in the Instructions to Bidders. Each successful bidder shall be required to furnish a corporate surety bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of its contract price. Said bond is to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council, shall guarantee the faithful performance of the contract and the terms and conditions therein contained, shall guarantee the prompt payment of all material and labor, protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operations of the contract, and shall guarantee the maintenance of the improvement in good repair for a period of two (2) years from and after completion and acceptance by the City. The guaranteed maintenance period shall be four (4) years for new paving. Work shall commence as soon as possible after award and approval of the contract and performance bond. Work shall be completed no later than the designated contract completion date of April 30, 2026. Should the contractor fail to complete the work by this date, liquidated damages of $1,000 per calendar day will be assessed. The City does hereby reserve the right to reject any or all bids, to waive informalities, and to enter into such contract, or contracts, as it shall deem to be in the best interest of the City.
