Renovation of a bridge / tunnel in Palmyra, New Jersey. Completed plans call for the renovation of a one-story above grade bridge / tunnel.
The work consists of furnishing labor, tools, equipment, temporary support structures and materials to perform structural steel repairs, concrete deck repairs, timber fender repairs and painting to the Riverside-Delanco three-span bridge (Riverside Span, Delanco Span, Swing Span, Pier A, Center Pier, and Pier B). Maintenance repairs of timber fenders at the Center Pier, Pier A, and Pier B are included, which involves removing vegetation, verifying dimensions for ordering purposes, supplying new members, and removing and replacing deteriorated members. Allowances are provided for ongoing and unforeseen deterioration, and for unforeseen steel and fender repairs, all subject to Engineer approval. The project also requires furnishing and applying specified coatings to all steel members, cleaning and treating surfaces prior to coating, and treating bridge machinery, mechanical parts, electrical components, and zinc-coated members as specified. Other tasks include furnishing, fabricating, installing, maintaining, removing, and disposing of all temporary structures required for the contract, as well as containment and disposal of both hazardous and non-hazardous debris. Balancing the Swing span before, during, and after steel repairs and painting is required. Maintenance and Protection of Traffic must be provided as necessary, and all temporary bridge and lane closures must be coordinated with the Engineer for approval. Bid packages are available electronically and at the Commission office. Each bidder must inspect the project site and submit a sworn affidavit confirming the inspection. Bids must be submitted on standard forms in sealed envelopes with proper identification, addressed to the Burlington County Bridge Commission, and must be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check, or bid bond for 10% of the bid, not to exceed $20,000. Compliance with New Jersey Prevailing Wage Act, Affirmative Action, Statement of Corporate Ownership, Public Works Contractor Registration, and Business Registration Certification is required. Bidders must complete the Responsible Contractor Certification form and meet NJDOT work type classifications for the main and specialized tasks, or use qualified subcontractors. Late bids will not be accepted, and the Commission reserves the right to accept or reject bids and waive nonmandatory defects.
