The work includes the furnishing of labor, tools, equipment, temporary support structures, and materials for the maintenance of bridges, equipment (excluding vehicles and small portable equipment), and other facilities owned and/or operated by the Burlington County Bridge Commission. Tasks involve emergency and conventional maintenance, which may entail removing, repairing, furnishing, fabricating, and erecting structural steel members and components, concrete repairs, bridge deck joint replacement, and bridge bearing replacement. Work quantities are estimated and not definitive since individual maintenance tasks are not predetermined. The contractor must be able to respond within four hours with the materials, tools, equipment, and personnel necessary to complete emergency maintenance, potentially on a 24/7 basis. Maintenance & Protection of Traffic must be provided as required by the Engineer, and all temporary bridge and lane closures must be coordinated and approved by the Commission. Bidders must inspect the project site, use the designated bid forms, comply with all applicable New Jersey statutory requirements, complete a Responsible Contractor Certification, and be qualified under NJDOT work type classification 4 (Bridge) or 5 (Heavy Highway) and any other relevant classifications.
