Renovation of a fitness / recreation center in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Completed plans call for the renovation of a fitness / recreation center.
Booker T. Washington Recreation Center BID QUESTIONS will be due by email to Katie Huisenga katie@s45architects.com no later than 5:00 PM on October 14th, 2025. We understand that a new one-story structure (40k sf footprint, with a new gym, event center, offices, etc. including mezzanines in some areas) and associated parking/drive areas will be constructed on the referenced site. The final design has not been completed; however, the preliminary design includes a lower gym floor elevation that will require retaining walls along the north gym wall. The site is developed with existing structures, pavements, sidewalks, above/below-grade infrastructure, and grass covered areas with trees/shrubbery. Select structures and site elements shall remain and others will be razed prior to beginning construction. The site is generally level and sloping downwards from the north to the south with elevation changes of 794 ft to 745 ft, respectively. Cut/fill depths have not been finalized; however, we estimate that cut/fill of approximately 6 to 18 inches (possibly 2 to 5 feet at retaining wall) may be required to reach the final site elevations. The structures are anticipated to be comprised of metal and/or concrete tilt panel framing and supported by a concrete slab-on-ground and shallow foundation system. Structure footings will be embedded and designed to bear in the native subsurface. Information regarding estimated structural loading conditions was provided; and we utilized maximum column loads of 40 to 125 kip and wall loads of 5 to 10 kip per linear foot in our engineering analyses. The new parking/drive areas will more than likely be constructed with an asphalt or concrete surface and aggregate base course overlying a properly prepared subgrade. Information regarding estimated traffic loading conditions was not provided; however, we utilized an estimated 20-year traffic volume to be equal to 25,000 (standard) and 50,000 (heavy duty) equivalent 18-kip single-axle loads (ESALs).
