The scope of work involves the replacement of 4 water main valves in Carroll County. The project includes the furnishing and installation of two 4 gate valves, one 6 gate valve, and one 10 insertable plug valve. The OWNER reserves the right to waive any informality or to reject any or all proposals. These specifications and accompanying drawings describe the work to be done and the materials to be furnished for the construction of the Water Valve Replacements 2025 Project. The Project generally consists of the following: 1. Furnish and install two (2) 4" M&H Water Main Gate Valves, one (1) 6" M&H Water Main Gate Valve, and one (1) 10" Water Main Insertable Plug Valve. Valve replacements include furnishing and installing the new water main valve (valve type and size varies), valve box, valve box lid, up to 20 LF of replacement pipe, fittings, tracer wire, warning tape, connections, grubbing, excavation, backfill, grading, site cleanup, seed and straw, and all other material or labor required for the complete replacement of the valve. a. Includes mobilization and demobilization of contractor's own forces to and from the site within Carroll County; Excludes overall mobilization and demobilization into and out of Carroll County, which is paid separately under Bid Item 5 in the bid form. b. Includes up to 20 LF of replacement pipe per valve at no additional cost, no adjustment will be made if less is required. c. Final valve locations are to be field approved by Owner before installation. d. Equivalent valves must be approved by Owner before purchase. e. Replace the 4" Valve in Prestonville, known as "Isolation Valve 454." Includes furnishing and installing the new 4" M&H water main gate valve. The existing pipe is 4" PVC CL 160. f. Replace the 6" Valve in Prestonville, known as "Isolation Valve 456." Includes furnishing and installing the new 6" M&H water main gate valve. Includes a new 6"x6" MJ tapping sleeve and 6"x4" reducer. Existing pipe is 6" PVC CL 200 SDR 21. g. Replace the 4" Valve in English, known as "Isolation Valve 65." Includes furnishing and installing the new 4" M&H water main gate valve. Includes removal of trees up to 12" in diameter; larger trees, if required, will be handled by a change order. Existing pipe is 4" PVC CL 160. h. Abandon the existing the 10" insertable plug valve in Carrollton, known as "Isolation Valve 769"; and replace with a new 10" insertable plug valve. Includes removing the top section of the existing 10" valve box, and filling existing box with sand. Includes furnishing and installing the new 10" Insertable plug valve (Inserta, Insta-valve, or approved equivalent). The water main must remain live during construction. No pipe shall be replaced at this location (20' pipe allowance from General Notes does not apply). Existing pipe is 10" Cast Iron. 2. Reconnect the new water main to the existing water main. 3. All materials, labor and equipment to pressure test, flush and disinfect the new waterline and appurtenances according to the following specifications. 4. Site cleanup, pavement restoration, seed, and straw disturbed areas from construction to preconstruction conditions.
