Site work for a development in Gilchrist, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a one-story above grade development.
**As of January 16th, 2026, this project has not yet been awarded. A timeline for the award has not yet been established.** The restoration work involves constructing an island by mechanically dredging sediments from a designated adjacent borrow area, site access, and flotation channel, then mechanically placing the sediments into the designated restoration area footprint according to specified lines and grades. The island fill will be graded to provide upland nesting habitat transitioning to a beach shoreline. An alternative construction method, for potential cost savings, allows the island fill to be obtained from an approved offsite borrow source. The restoration aims to create approximately a 4-acre bird rookery island.
