Renovation of a water / sewer project in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project.
Halifax Water has an ongoing program to carry out retrofits on key control chambers in the distribution system that have been designated as Confined Spaces. The retrofit includes the conversion of a ladder entry to a stair way entry to address the issues of Confined Space Entry (CSE). Upgrades will also be done simultaneously with operations and tech services for the replacement of the meter and control valve as well as reconfiguration of the pipe system within the chamber. Retrofit of Geizer 123 Dump Valve Chamber near Geizer 123 Reservoir at 311 Main Avenue, Halifax, NS. Includes: Removal of existing hatch, ladder, and mechanical infrastructure. Upgrades to underground chamber entrance (concrete, hatch, galvanized stairs, steel platform). Installation of new valves, piping, flow meter, pressure reducing valve. Electrical relocation and temporary lighting (equipment rated for wet location). Reinstatement of disturbed areas (topsoil, asphalt, curbing, sidewalks). Traffic control, environmental protection, dust control, and permitting. Commissioning and O&M manuals. Duration: 10 weeks after start order.
