Remodeling of a mixed-use development in Ames, Iowa. Completed plans call for the remodel of a laboratory facility.

This project will remodel rooms 2003, 2110, 2116, 2118, 2124, and 2126 of the Human Nutritional Sciences Building (HNSB) to accommodate a Textiles Science Teaching Laboratory. Work includes demolition of interior space including existing walls, casework, equipment, and finishes. New work includes but is not limited to, new walls, casework, fume hoods, doors, finishes, and infill of existing wall openings and roof patching to accommodate new mechanical rooftop equipment. Mechanical scope includes new supply and exhaust ductwork, new building automation controls, and new plumbing to support lab equipment in the space. Electrical scope includes a new panel, new power services to support lab equipment, new lighting, and new fire alarm devices. Fire protection scope includes removal and re-installation of sprinkler piping and heads in the space. Questions regarding the scope of work should be directed to the Design Professional. Substantial Completion: 190 Days (Approximately May 22, 2026) Final Completion: 250 Days (Approximately July 21, 2026 Bid security shall be agreed upon as the measure of liquidated damages which the Owner will sustain by failure, neglect or refusal of bidder to deliver a signed contract stipulating performance of the Work in unqualified compliance with Contract Documents. Successful bidder will be required to furnish a Contract Performance and Payment Bond in the amount of 100% of the contract sum within ten (10) days after receipt of Notice of Award. The Iowa Board of Regents seeks to provide opportunities for Targeted Small Businesses in accordance with the provisions of Chapter 73 of the Code of Iowa. This project has a participation goal of 10% for certified Targeted Small Businesses as specified in the Project Requirements.
