Site work and new construction of a fire / police facility in Urbandale, Iowa. Working plans call for the construction of a 74,000-square-foot, one-story above grade fire / police facility.

The project is for the Urbandale Police Headquarters. The current city police department building was constructed in 1981 at approximately 12,000 SF and was expanded to 23,000 SF in 2008. The current workforce consists of 60 sworn officers, 9 civilian, and 12 reserve officers. Ten-year projections estimate 72 sworn officers, 10 civilian, and 12 reserve officers, and future annexation could require a larger number of personnel to maintain adequate staffing levels. A Space Needs Assessment conducted in 2023 identified an approximate need of 74,000 SF. The building is anticipated to be located at the southwest corner of Douglas Avenue and 100th Street on a 4-acre site currently owned by the city. Respondents are expected to carefully examine all requirements and respond in the format requested. Non-conformance may lead to rejection of the proposal. The owner assumes no obligation to reimburse or compensate for expenses incurred in response. After evaluation, there may be interviews to answer detailed questions. Owner reserves the right to reject any response or solicit additional responses, and may also accept or reject portions of the response. All questions are to be directed to Sidekick Development.
