The City of Wichita is seeking proposals from firm(s) to provide excavation of soils for the Environmental Health Division Questions Due Date: Jan 20th 2026, 3:00 PM CST Excavation of Soils at APEX Site located at 1234 N. Wellington The scope of work is provided in this Request for Proposal (RFP) and its attachments for the Public Works & Utilities Department. The goal of this RFP is to secure the services of a Contractor to facilitate the excavation, transport, and disposal of contaminated soils and backfill the resultant excavation. SCOPE OF WORK The scope of work entails the following. Remove approximately 320 linear feet of existing 8-foot-high chain link fencing and either recycle or properly dispose of the material. Remove approximately 5,460 square feet of concrete material (flat work and footings), estimated to comprise approximately 200 in-place cubic yards of material and dispose at Brooks C & D landfill. Material cannot be stockpiled on site. Material has to be directly transported to the landfill after its removal. Excavate to the base of the clay material; place excavated material directly into transport containers and transport the material to Plumb Thickett Landfill for proper disposal. Excavated soils are not to be stockpiled onsite. Average excavated depth is expected to be eight feet. Anticipated in-place volume of excavated soils is estimated to be 1,420 cubic yards. Excavation will be back-filled with clean commercial fill sand that has to be approved by Environmental Staff prior to placement. Back-filled sand is to be compacted on lifts of two feet or less. Placement of at least six-inches of asphalt, level with existing paved surfaces. Contractor is to follow guidance provided as Attachment A2.
