Sealed bids are invited for supplying all labor, equipment, and materials necessary for the construction of the Central Avenue Walking Plaza. The work includes construction of a pedestrian plaza and lighting, as well as all other related items required to complete the project as specified in the contract documents. The contractor is responsible for performing all work and providing all plant, labor, equipment, and materials as required by the specifications and drawings. Bid documents can be obtained via www.neel-schafferplans.com. Bidders must comply with all Special Provisions relating to labor, and minimum wage rates as determined by the Secretary of Labor. Disadvantaged and women's business enterprises are encouraged to submit bids, and no discrimination will be tolerated based on race, color, or national origin. Each bid must include a certified check or a bidder's bond equal to five percent of the total bid price. The successful bidder must provide a performance and payment bond equal to one hundred percent of the contract amount. All bonds must be signed or countersigned by a Mississippi Resident Agent. Proposals must be submitted in a sealed envelope and deposited with the Hutcheson Hubbard Administration Building prior to the designated hour. Work must commence on or before a specified date in the "Notice to Proceed" and must be completed within the contract time. Liquidated damages will apply for each day the project is not completed beyond the contract time. Work must conform to the "Mississippi State Highway Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction, 2017," with all applicable amendments, special provisions, and addenda. Jones County Junior College reserves the right to reject any or all proposals, to waive technicalities or irregularities, or to advertise for new proposals.
