Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Unalaska, Alaska. Working plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
This project is 1.4 miles long, between Airport Beach Road and the south end of the Westward Seafoods Complex. Work on the existing gravel road includes widening the road to 13-foot lanes with 2-foot shoulders, base & various areas of embankment reconstruction, new asphalt pavement, and new 6-foot paved separated multi-use path. Project includes selective replacement of storm drainpipes and inlet structures. This project was selected in the 2023 DOT&PF Community Transportation Program solicitation. Work Type : New Road Construction As of October 06, 2025, the project is in Final Planning status. Anticipated letting Year is 2025 AKDOT - Captain's Bay Road [CTPAward 2023] *Project information has been obtained through a public state transportation improvement plan (STIP). A STIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the STIP often evolves based on funding availability.
