Demolition, site work, new construction and renovation of a mixed-use development in Santa Barbara, California. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a playground / park / athletic field; for the construction of a playground / park / athletic field; for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field; and for site work for a playground / park / athletic field.

The project will remove and replace the existing wading pool (constructed in 1979) with a splash playground, picnic area, and chilren's playspace. The existing wading pool closed in 2014, due to a major leak, ongoing response to drought conditions, and mandatory requirement to install an accessible ramp and upgrade filtration systems. A splash playground provides a safe and dynamic introduction to aquatic safety for young children during warmer months, while also functioning as a year-round destination playground. The preliminary design and permitting is currently funded. A needs assessment completed in 2023 identified the range of improvements to install a splash playground and other park features. Construction drawings are anticipated to cost $500,000. A preliminary estimate for construction is $2,600,000. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP).
